Clannad of CastleKnoll

We never intended to buy a stallion, but one look and there was no turning back. He was even better in person!

Clannad is a 12-year-old, proven stallion with wonderful conformation, abundant mane and feather, standing 14.2hh.  He has a soft expressive eye, a lovely refined head and that apple bum we are all looking for. Broke to ride and drive, his smooth gaits are a pleasure. Rarely will you find a stallion as gentle and calm. We feel we could not have found a better match for our mares.

Accomplished in driving, Clannad is used regularly to go down the country roads around us. He has a breathtaking working trot!

Clannad's sire is alleged to have been Nelson Taylor's Black Horse whose sire was Eddy Horcock's Black Horse, who goes back to "Lob." His stated dam was a black and white mare whose Great Grandsire was "Black Bob." There is a strong resemblance to the Lottery Horse and there has been some speculation from parties in the UK that a relationship exists. With so many horses untested, this will be an evolving process.

On October 7, 2006, Clannad participated in the first ever US inspection, sponsored by the Gypsy Cob and Drum Horse Association, with UK Judge James Taylor. We are pleased he achieved overall *Premium* status.  While we believe he could have scored better if he had more experience in public settings not related to breeding (yes, he dropped!), we missed First Premium In Hand by seven-tenths of one point and comfortably achieved First Premium in Working (Driving).

Clannad does not stand to outside mares. His first USA foals are expected in late spring 2008. We're thinking fillies! Inquiries welcome.
